Magento Backup Help

Hi All,

        I was just recently given access/control to our company website with magento as our sale platform. After going through the system became aware that they had not update magento in a very long time, and had not backup in a very long time (2 years since last backup). Now magento is intalled on your server down south , as I have remote access. So after 12 hour of backing up, and the website being in maintenance mode. Is there any way to get remote access to admin with in maintenance mode or do I have to wait for the backup to continue.

Does it mean backup is still on-going also can you please post how you have take this backup ?

generally when store is in maintenance mode then you are no longer to access the same - so you must need to wait until this backup done and maintenance mode off.
