Requesting update for custom extension.

Hello everyone!

How exactly works checking for enabled/installed modules updates?

Actually we are building our custom extension for magento 2 and we are going to place it in Marketplace. I am looking for solution how to implement listeners for module updates. Could you provide me some information about it ?
