Optional (ex. student) discount

Hey!

I'd really like to add a 'discounts' option to my webshop in which the user could choose from possible discounts (if he/she is a student, comes from an underprivileged family etc.).

I set an option but as it's not possible to set an option's price to negative I'm unable to make it work. I have been googleing it for a few hours without any good result.

Is it possible that such a developed CMS is not able to handle such an everyday task?

In which way you expect to validate if the custome rcan use one of those discounts?

I sell courses, so when they show up at the venue they bring some evidence like the student card.
