Translate e-mail core variables

Help - I am stranded!

We are having a danish site. It is well translated except for the part of the e-mails which are coming as variables from the magento itself.

Eg. in the 'order_update.html' e-mail there is a variable that is called like this: {{var order.getStatusLabel()}}. It will spit out the english word for cancelled instead of the danish word.

How can I change this into the danish word?

You can translate lable for Order status label in your backend->System->Order Statuses.
