Automatic product update

Hi Magento Community, 

I have a website whereby we are constantly uploading products on a day to day basis. Many of these are items are not in-stock and we collect pre-orders. We put a line of code in the Short description to say when the items will come into stock. 

My question is, is there any way, by means of an extension or plug in that we can enter an 'In stock' date and once that date comes it will automatically change to 'In stock now' and remove the expected date?

Even if there was a way of being alerted in the back end of magento that a product description needs to be updated would be extremely helpful. 

I hope my question makes sense.

If anyone is aware of how this can be done, that would be super helpful.

You can try our Custom Stock Status extension. It deteremines and displays different text and image statuses of products depending on their quantity in stock and out of stock statuses. So, you can also add an expected date or time interval product is expected to be available within.

Moreover, customers will be able to sugn up for product status update and be alerted once the products gets in stock.

Thanks for sending the link and access to see the front end and back end of the site. 

Am I right in believing that when you enter a date in the "On Pre-Order Until", it will automatically go away and change to 'In Stock' once it reaches that date?

Yes. It works in that way.

Yes it did, i've installed this and it is working fine. Fingers crossed it will work as expected when we've got a few pre-order items coming in stock tomorrow.
