I know this is an old thread, but the fix for this may be in the child theme folder structure.
In your child theme: app/design/frontend/[Your Name]/[Your Theme], add /web/images and place logo.svg or logo.png in there.
It fixed the problem for me on 2.4.4 and 2.4.5.
