Magento 2 installation failed

This was the solution to my issue. I was already trying to re-install on a new, empty database

You might be facing this issue, if you have already mapping your application with existing database. Please check env.php with database configuration. 

You can clean database while installation or un install application before installing. 

To clean database while installing:

--cleanup-database
To uninstall :

php bin/magento setup:uninstall
