Duplicate Meta Data in pages

hello
Hoping someone can help ( im a bit new to this so apologies if im asking stupid questions)
Have a web site ( http://www.pcrmax.com ) build by a design agency and im having some issues

1/ Submitted site map to Google - worked fine
2/ Submitted sitemap to bing  - PROBLEM

Bing tells me i have 2 sets of meta information?
Which is true please see examples below:

I assume that this is becasue the site wide meta data is set to yes and then the pages have also had meta data to them individually!

My problem is which one to switch off ( i am guessing the site wide one and then I have to go in and create meta information for each individual page?

Hoping im wrong¬!

thank you

S

Re: Duplicate Meta Data in pages

Hi @Bibbysci

I'm afraid you are right. You need to disable site wide meta data and create meta tags for each page individually.

However, you should know that meta tags should be relevant, optimized and unique for each page of your site. This is SEO optimization, and the amount of efforts put in it defines the results of your site performance in search engines.

You can create meta tags manually. For example, we use this approach on our site as we have not so many products. But if your inventory is extensive, it may be too hard to go through all meta tags manually. As an alternative, you can use this extension  which helps to generate unique and relevant meta data based on the templates you create yourself.

This extension is applicable if you're using Magento 1, not Magento 2. I'm not sure which version you're using as you've posted in the forum for Magento 1 but created a tag for Magento 2.

Hope that helps!
