Access existing customer login via android app. Is the end point available default in Magento 1.8?

I'm using Magento 1.8.0.0 community Edition. I am able to access products as a guest user. I wonder how to access the customer http://magentohost/api/rest/customers. Do we need to write custom code to access the customer details or it is available in Magento 1.8 by default?
