Creating a custom widget from scratch - Magento 1.6

Hi,

im new to magento and have to work on a shop using 1.6 due to a new job. I'm currently trying to add a widget which should allow a admin panel user to upload an image which will be later displayed on the frontend because it was hard coded into the template so far.

I found some tutorials but they all seems no to be meant for 1.6. Did the custom creation changed from 1.6 to 1.9?

Any advices are welcome!

Hello @david_gröger 

you can use default Magento functionality, like using add block and into that block, you can insert that image using wyswing editor

you will call that static block into your phtml.
