When people place an order on my online store I am not receiving a notification email. The customer isn't receiving order emails either.

I am unable to send emails to customers from Sales -> Orders. Under Sales Emails, I have my email address (same domain as store url). I've done this for all sales emails.

email server should be configured ..You can use SMTPPro http://www.magentocommerce.com/magento-connect/smtp-pro-email-free-custom-smtp-email.html

actually i installed it before reading ur answer and waiting for the email server detail from the client.
