how to use empty discount

Hello there,

I want to track a group of clients in order to send them a coupon code.

To do that, I was thinking to create a coupon code with a discount of 0E (or 0%), and then every client that has bought something with this code will receive a real discount code for his next order.

The problem is that Magento 1.7 says "Code applied successfully" in the checkout procedure, but in the backend nothing is applied.

Any hints?

By Default magento doesn't track 0 discount amount coupons.
