Catalogue Price rule end date doesn't end the price rule

This happens every time:
When creating a catalogue price rule, I put in an end date, saves and activate the rule. It works nicely. BUT- it always continues after the End date has passed, and the only way to make it stop is to turn it into Inactive mode. But that requires a manual procedure, and the rule isn't reliable to stop on its own. For example;  I have a rule with end date 03.04.2016, and it's still running...

Why is this happening?

Catalog Price Rule issues usually boil down to cron related stuff. However usually it's other way around -- when your catalog rule is suddenly switched off for no good reason, it's almost certainly means that cron is either not running or failing fatally at some point. Still, Cron is first potential suspect for your problem I guess.
