Dashboard Searches showing rougue terms

Hi

We are experiencing something strange with our dashboard search results. There are a numebr of strange terms showing up and the number of uses for both those and the regular terms are in 'run away'. You can refresh the page and the uses will have increased by thousands in just minutes. We've googled to see if there is any suggestion of the cause and can't find anything. Does anyone have any ideas or experienced this before??

Update: As reference to anyone else that might experience this and come looking. We have managed identify that it was spammers firing thousands of hits to the search.

Did you find a way to prevent it from happening again?

Yes, we blocked the googlebot in the robot.txt
