How to get configurable product image to change? Magento 1.9

I've followed all the steps in several different tutorials for Magento 1.9 with the configurable swatches, but my images still won't change when the appropriate simple product is selected from the configurable product drop down. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Did you saw any javascript error?

Also, which theme are you using? (a custom theme or RWD).

No, there is no javascript error at all. It's a custom theme called Blanco (from ThemeForest).

What if you change the theme configuration to RWD for a few seconds in order to test the default behavior?

How would I go about doing that without messing up the formatting of the current theme?
