Unable to add configurable product to cart

Hi I am unable to add configurable products into the cart. Simple products work fine but I get a white screen when trying to add a configurable. Does anyone have any suggestions/fixes that I can try please? I am at a loss at the moment.

Do you have any custom modules?

Can you turn on errors in the index.php so can see what the error is?

Have you looked at your magento log files?

Thanks for the reply Brent. We think its related to abug that effects promotion rules. Seems a couple of rules overloaded the system. When we turned the rules off we were able to add to cart as normal. Just testing moving rules to actions to see if that works as a a workround.
