catalog price rule not affected the product price ?

I have created catalog price rule and apply the rules. But the rules not affected  the product original price . I am using magento 1.9.2.4  version.

Is is happening intermittently for the prices? 

Is the cron job running for you Magento installation? If cron job is not configured then you may face issues related to catalog price rules.
