I am using v1.9.3.7, I am using the default theme that came with Magento, and I would like to change it so I can put big pictures on my front page and larger pictures in my category pictures. I do not have a developer, and I am a novice computer user.  

I tried to see if I can install v2.23 but I get an error message about PHP version and it says it might affect other versions of magento so I am afraid I might ruin my older version. I am running 4 websites so I really cannot risk bringing them down. 

My question is are there any other themes that came in magento that I can change  that would alter my pictures and pages?
