Best practice Upgrading from very fancy Magento version to new one
Hi there,
I've got a very old (1.7) and tough Magento installation. Now I want to Upgrade the whole thing to the newest Version with a redesign and so on.
What is your best practice to do that? I thought the best way is to export the articles (200), do a completely new Magento installation and import the articles again, and install the corresponding extensions ...
Also I though because of the few articles of 200, would be something lightweight like blugento cool. What are your thoughts?

Hello
Please upgrade your magento version via magento connect manager without using new installation and transfer of data.
This will saves a lot of your time and money.
Thanks

Re: Best practice Upgrading from very fancy Magento version to new one
- Bring the entire site to dev example dev.domain.com
- make sure you enable log(system and exception)
- backup the main folder(public_html)
- update entire folder with latest Magento
- clean cache
- test functionality
- check error.log
Actually as long as your 1.7 is updated with all the patches, it will be fine.
Can check with magereport.com
