How to update Magento from 1.9.1.1 to the latest version

I am looking for an up to date Magento update tutorial.
I've already tried to update Magento with "Magento connect" but it didn't work.

May I know what issue do you face when you try to upgrade with Magento Connect?

Hello JLHC,

I wanted to send you the log but the update did work now.
I tried so many times and finally it worked. I have no clue what went wrong the last times.
Now I just have to apply the update on the live server. I hope it works!
