Data migration from 2.x to 2.x

Data migration from 2.x to 2.x

Hi there,

We've currently got a Magento Community instance running the latest version of 2.3 (which has served us very well over the years), however there's a number of underlying database issues, bad code etc which is causing us problems.

We've got a new 2.4 instance all set up, themes and configured but can't seem to find any tools anywhere that'll let me migrate data, namely Orders, Customers, Categories and Products.

There seems to be a tonne of plugins that to M1 to M2 migration, but nothing that fits the bill here.

I've tried direct upgrades from 2.3 to 2.4, but a number of the issues from our broken 2.3 instance then remain, which aren't present on our non tainted 2.4 build.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks,

Lee

Re: Data migration from 2.x to 2.x

Hi Lee,

You might want to consider an automated data migration service, like Lit Extension or Cart2Cart. Each has an M2 upgrade solution to move your data from your old M2 store (the data source) to your new M2 store (the data destination).

Example:

https://marketplace.magento.com/magneticone-cart2cart-migration-from-magento.html

Best of luck!

Hi @leemathewbrooks,

I guess you do not need to install any tool or extension like that but because you need to just upgrade the Magento version like from 2.3.4 to 2.4.5 so you need to follow the below steps:

  1. Make sure all requirements should be available at your local or server environment for the updated Magento version. Check this link for Magento requirements https://devdocs.magento.com/guides/v2.4/install-gde/system-requirements.html
  2. Make a backup of the database as well as the directory and file of your older Magento version.
  3. After setting up all things for upgrade the new version then follows this process which is recommendable by Adobe itself  https://devdocs.magento.com/guides/v2.4/comp-mgr/cli/cli-upgrade.html

If you get the solution then please, "Kudos" and "Accept as Solution" for Token of Appreciation. Thank you.
