Edit/Save product sometimes hangs up

hi everybody,
sometimes in magento2 when i save a product the server hangs up and display forever the turning wheel.

The .htacces has the standard configuration with:
php_value memory_limit 768M
php_value max_execution_time 18000

and the server is a VPS with 2 cores and 2 gb RAM.
I'm about to expand it to 4 gb RAM and 4 cores, but there is a way to tune configuration to avoid hangups?
