I have changed the suffix to .asp via the SEO section in Magento2 panel.
Although all pages & products are opening properly.
I wanted to know from your experience, will this cause any unexpected issues?

It's up to you if your SEO is not affecting you can change it, I don't think so there should be any issue from Magento side.
It does not create any issue, but mostly user use .html format of each URL.
Seems like you are migrating from asp to Magento, so you change it.
No issue with suffix, you can add any suffix.
Yes, you guessed right, my current site is in asp.
Hence, want to retain .asp for SEO purpose.
Just worried that, IIS might start treating the URLs with .asp suffix as actual ASP files, which will run into all sorts of issues & site wont work.
