On subscriptions, we only ship product first month so how stop on other months?

Magento 2 question - Most of our products are all monthly subscription based. We send a starter kit on the initial starting month payment but on all subsequent months subscription payments we do not ship anything. So how do we;
1. Stop Magento from triggering to send new shipment

2. Stop it from charging shipping on subsequent months

3. Stop the new order email from going out on subsequent months

Since a subscription could mean (generally) the same product I've purchased in the same way maybe you could try to change the approach?

I mean, what if you sell the starter kit and then the subscription to the other content?
