What is the usage for predefined customer group: Wholesale and Retailer

After installing Magento2.3.x, there are 4 customer groups predefined. I think "NOT LOGGED IN" and "General" are used by the system. How about "Wholesale" and "Retailer"? Are those used by the system? or just  example customer groups, and can be deleted or renamed?

You are correct. The Wholesale and Retailer customer groups are samples and can be removed.

You're also correct that the Not Logged In group is the default group for shoppers that make guest purchases, and the General group is the default group for shoppers that create an account.
