Create a configurable product takes a very long time

Hi

I'm using a template with sample data

when i tried to create a configurable product it took such a long time for only 5 variations

why is that happening?

I've tried it with two different hosting providers, but happened on both any ideas?

I'm using magento 2 v2.2.3

Are they Magento focused hosting providers or generic hosting providers? 

Most generic shared hosting providers do not properly tune their servers for Magento so you may experience slowness when performing certain operations.

Please change to production mode and check it, it will be fast.
