How large should a backup be?

Hi,

I am currently trying to move away from the developer who manages hosting for our site.

As a result I have asked him to provide full database backups but he has supplied me with a file that 35 MB. This seems very small? Our site has just over 1000 products all with high-res images. Should I expect such a small backup or is this unusual? If so any guesses on what he's provided & what it's likely missing would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Re: How large should a backup be?

35MB is definitely too small for the database backup. It should at least be a few hundreds of Megabytes.

While you are at it, make sure to get backup of your files as well, not just the database.

Do you have access to your server or hosting control panel? If you do, you should be able to take the backup yourself or migrate all data to your new server.
