Need help setting up Magento on subfolder but not showing in URL.

Community,

Looking for help on setting up Magento on a shared hosting. I would like to save it in a sub-folder. but don't show it on a URL.

example

http://website.com/sub-folder

I would like it to look like this:

http://website.com

Now I don't know if this is the community to ask this, but its a start.

Thanks

Nathan

Hello @nathan_payne

I understand the requirement which you are trying to achieve.

But as you are using shared hosting - that means your public_html directory is pointed to your main domain - now if you are creating sub-directory in it and then trying to access using URL then you must need to use sub-directory name after the URL.

Because on server level they have pointed domain to public_html which you can not change.

So if you still want to change and make it structure like this - then you need to raise a ticket on your hosting provider or ask their support team - they might help you in this case.

If its dedicated hosting then we can able to change this domain URL by pointing the same to your sub-directory.

Hope it helps !

You may be able to achieve this with some .htaccess tricks but it can be hard to maintain and difficult to ensure that it doesn't break anything.

Is there a specific reason that you want it to be done this way?
