I really believe React + Magento 2 is the way to build headless e-commerce storefronts.

If you are looking for an open source React Magento 2 PWA, you could take a look at GraphCommerce: https://www.graphcommerce.org/

It is fast, but also solves a lot of challenges that come with React, such as:
- SSG so search engines can index all pages
- Optimized performance: image rendering, CDN, caching etc.
- Includes GraphQL mesh, so different services can be integrated (CMS, ERP)
