Product category order.

I am trying to order products within a category on Magento.

I have numbered each SKU (parents and children) on the manage category page on the back end.

One SKU is always appearing first, whichever order I put it in.

Can anyone advise?

Have you saved changes and preformed reindex and cleared cache?

Yes all caches are cleared and all reindexed.
