how do I make the home page the signup page?

As described in title, my magento build will be a secure site, I need the home page to be the signup page, how do i configure this?

Magento allows to assign any frontend page as the Home Page.

Thank you for that info, I think I need to elaborate, I need every page on the site to be secure, how do I make the whole website a closed system that requires users to login first?

So the home page won't be a category (as in the article you posted)  but the login / register page.
