Braintree PSD2 3D Secure 2

Braintree has issued a notification that from next January, tose using Braintree for checkout need to adopt 3DS 2 authentications.

I am using Magento 2.2.2, which after some research it is using 3DS v1. Does anyone know what I can do to update Braintree's Extention to accept 3DS 2 since I can only find the Extension for Magento 2.3 and not for Magento 2.2.2

What worked for me was creating a custom patch based on the 2.3 extension code, but it took a lot of trial and error.
