Magento 2 filter based only on simple product

Is it possible to make the the layered navigation filter will only be based on simple product attributes and disregard the attributes under the configurable?

Hi @Burnt Patatas,

You can try once change attributes settings which you don’t want to show under layered navigation filter..

- Use in layered navigation: no
- allow attributes to specific product simple/configurable only..

You mean we will create a new attribute and assign to each product?

We have around 8k+ products. More or less 3500 configurable products and 5000 simple products. I think it would take us a lot of time editing each of the products?

Hi @Burnt Patatas 

You don't need to create attribute again. 

You can edit existing one which you want. 

If you want to add new attribute then you don't need to assign each attribute manually to each product. You can do by export/import functionality from admin panel. 

Admin->System->Data Transfer->Export 

Edit the CSV file and Import 

Admin->System->Data Transfer->Import
