Parts Finder using current attributes & products?

Parts Finder using current attributes & products?

I want to implement a parts finder on our catalogue. We have multiple thousand products, some of which regularly drop off the site etc.

Every parts finder plugin I can find online seem to require their own attributes to be created within the plugin, then for the user to upload individual products or a CSV of SKUs and attributes etc. This is going to be a PITA when there's regularly new product being added to the site.

Is there a plugin or a method to achieve this with attributes that are already on the products? Say for example we already apply Manufacturer, Type, Colour, Size to every item on product creation, can we have some form of finder that would just use those filters and show accordingly?

Hello @RuthRobert5d6c

For example, If you want to creating a vehicle part finder (Year/Make/Model), you can use dependent dropdowns:

Select Year, then populate the Make dropdown based on Year.

Select Make, then populate the Model dropdown.

Display matching products.

This can be implemented with AJAX or by using cascading drop downs in a form and querying the relevant data.

You need to create product attributes like Make, Model, and Year, and then use them in a custom form for filtering products.

Hope it helps !

Re: Parts Finder using current attributes & products?

Hi @RuthRobert5d6c,

Here I found one of the magento2 part finder extension which would filter catalog products with configurable attributes and create multiple additional variables of your own such as Make/model/year/variant.

Let do refer this

Re: Parts Finder using current attributes & products?

Yes but with custom code. We have this case with one of our clients where they use the Amasty parts finder, but we implemented custom code logic that fills in the values in the parts finder based on the values of existing product attributes.

It has to be custom and specifically tailored for your case because you need to figure out a logic by which we should automatically map the products based on your specific attributes and their values.
