I am considering purchasing one just for M2.

Yes but not too much of its not about to full. You should try SSD instead of HDD and install the OS in it.

It also depends on processor and RAM.

@tvgarden you can use the SSD instead of HD as suggested by @theMageComp as it is way faster than HD.

So it definitely speed up your server.
