Displaying out of stock instead of hiding sizes

Right now, we have configurable products based on size / color.

We've noticed that if a size is disabled on all stores / default, that size is hidden from the drop down menu.  Is there a way to leave it in there but just have it greyed out?  If I'm understanding the behavior correctly, if its available in some scope, it'll be greyed out instead of missing.

@joseph_digiovannaPlease check the setting in configuration to display out of stock product. If it is set to NO then update it to Yes.

Can you tell me if this will also affect color swatches, or if there is a way to only do this for the size attribute?
