Magento 2.1.6 Inode Usage problem

Hi,

I have just finished upgrading from 2.1.4 to 2.1.6. The new way to cache/resize the images has increased my inode usage above 280k and my hosting package is limited to 300k.

For about 5,000 images on my website, there's 150,000 files and folders of image cache!

Anybody facing a similar problem? How to deal with this situation? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Magento 2.1.6 Inode Usage problem

Yes I am facing the same issue.
Did the resize images due to the bug in 2.1.6 and now the inodes are way over my quota and the images are not fully loaded yet.
Is there anything we can do to solve this ASAP.

same issue here. Thinking of reverting back to previous version. the resize took about 50,000 ionodes. This is terrible. Some images are still broken

Re: Magento 2.1.6 Inode Usage problem

I havent done this yet but came across it this morning.

Action

We strongly recommend that you upgrade to 2.1.7 as soon as that release is available. Magento 2.1.7 will contain a fix for this issue as well as critically important security enhancements. We provide the hot fix described in this Technical Bulletin as a temporary fix only.

Magento 2.1.x CE

You can fix this issue with image resizing by downloading and installing the CE-MAGETWO-67805.patch hot fix, and then immediately upgrading to Magento 2.1.7, as soon as it is available.

To download this patch,

1) On Magento Tech Resources, choose Downloads > Magento Community Edition Patches > 2.x.

2) Select the CE-MAGETWO-67805.patch hot fix.

Re: Magento 2.1.6 Inode Usage problem

Hi,

I've downloaded this hotfix, but I have no idea how to install it.  My host installed 2.1.6, and they were unable to determine how to install this hotfix either.  I found instructions for installing patches that end in .sh, but nothing for installing patches that end in .patch.

Can anyone help?

Thank you.

Re: Magento 2.1.6 Inode Usage problem

Hi @FaeriesDance,

I flushed the image cache in System Panel which brought my inodes down to 86k but no images on the site but the images are there on the product detail page.
i  ran the resize command which loaded up all the images on the site but now my Inodes are sitting just on the limit of 200k.
It's crazy that Magento has not fixed this issue yet.
I most likely will roll back to 2.1.5 I this issue is not addressed soon.

Re: Magento 2.1.6 Inode Usage problem

use command:

git MAGETWO-67805-2017-05-17-03-04-03.patch

then clean and flush cache.

Thanks

Re: Magento 2.1.6 Inode Usage problem

I ended up changing from Shared Hosting to Cloud Hosting. No limit on inode usage. Lot more expensive, but Magento does require lot of resources.
