Store view lost after switch from view

Currently I'm migrating a website to M2 2.1.3 and facing an issue with the view switch.

I have to views: 'English' and 'Dutch'.

When I switch from one view to the other it loads initially the correct new view.

So when I sitch from Dutch to English it shows the page in English.

When I click after that on a link it goes to that page but in the previous language , in this exampe Dutch.

When I set "Add Store Code to URL" to 'Yes' in Stores > Configuration > General > Web it works properly.

I'm lost in finding the root cause for this, any suggestion is welcome, thanks in advance.

Hi Gabriel,

Thanks for your response and after some time I contacted the developer of my theme and he changed the language.phtml file of the customized theme.

Problem is solved now.
