Website down and it might be related to a Magento update

Hi everyone,

sorry to be a profane of all this.

Just trying to help a local NGO in Guinea to solve its IT issues (they dont even speak English nor understand anything about IT). Well not that I do, but at least I can write here...

So, a bit of history and then a request for help:

This NGO (Wakilare) hired an IT company to make their website. The IT company claimed to offer a super special discount to make the website because of the nature of the NGO (helping handicapped people in Africa). So the website was done using Magento.

Unfortunately, after just a few months the website went down (http://www.wakilare.com/), saying "Error log record number: 1247288737935" and of course they have no idea why.

We contacted the company, which didnt answer for months (!). Finally they did, but they said they want 400$ just to go and look into it. Considering that the website costed $500 i think it's unfair (I mean we are talking about Conakry guys not NYC, you can image the average income here...).

A young IT guy here looked briefly into it, entered the code CSS and told me that according to him, these guys have used a free version of Magento that should have not been updated once edited.

He thinks that they have then updated Magento and as a consequence our website does not work anymore.

He opened the code where it was indicated:

"

Do you think it makes sense?

But he couldnt do anything. I searched among my contacts and somebody looked into it and said he found the issue in the data base:

a:5:{i:0;s:596:"Error in file: "/home4/wakilare/public_html/app/code/core/Mage/Admin/sql/admin_setup/install-1.6.0.0.php" - SQLSTATE[HY000]: General error: 1813 Tablespace for table '`wakilare_mage`.`admin_assert`' exists. Please DISCARD the tablespace before IMPORT., query was: CREATE TABLE `admin_assert` (

`assert_id` int UNSIGNED NOT NULL auto_increment COMMENT 'Assert ID' ,

`assert_type` varchar(20) NULL default NULL COMMENT 'Assert Type' ,

`assert_data` text NULL COMMENT 'Assert Data' ,

  PRIMARY KEY (`assert_id`)

) COMMENT='Admin Assert Table' ENGINE=INNODB charset=utf8 COLLATE=utf8_general_ci";i:1;s:976:"#0 /home4/wakilare/public_html/app/code/core/Mage/Core/Model/Resource/Setup.php(644): Mage::exception('Mage_Core', 'Error in file: ...')

But didnt know what to do about it and suggested to post in a forum, which I am doing now.

To sum up, the situation is:

- IT company selling website to African NGO

- Website then shutting down with no reason

- IT company asking for almost the same price of a new website to just look into the issue

- African NGO got f****d and not knowing what to do... the website is down, we dont know why and dont know what to do even to understand what is going on...

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

Sergio

Re: Website down and it might be related to a Magento update

Hello Sergio,

I'm sorry for your friend. I need more informations about Ngo's case, so woud you mind sending me the screenshot of your folder var/report/855564473044, please?

Or you can inbox me.

Re: Website down and it might be related to a Magento update

Thank you very much for your reply!

As sad as it sounds, i am not sure I understand what kind of screenshot I shall send you. Would you mind advise where I can find this folder? Sorry for not being more precise!

Re: Website down and it might be related to a Magento update

Do you have FTP account to manage your files?

If yes, access to FTP and find the folder which contains your website code. Then, find and select file var/report, you can see many files in form of numbers. Here, you should select the files and send us the screenshot of all data/content or you send me directly those files.

I will check and try to figure out what's wrong.
