How do I set up the Magento 1x store with Google Analytics 4, currently it's working with Universal Analytics and I want to shift to GA4. I have tried adding the GA4 as per the google instructions but Google is not picking it up.
Setting up Magento 1x store with Google Analytics 4 (GA4) requires a few steps. Here's what you need to do to make the switch:
Create a GA4 property: If you haven't already, create a GA4 property in your Google Analytics account. This will provide you with a GA4 tracking code that you'll need for the next step.
Install the GA4 tracking code: Log in to your Magento 1x store's admin panel, go to System > Configuration > Sales > Google API, and paste your GA4 tracking code in the GA Code field. Save your changes.
Verify the tracking code: To check if the GA4 tracking code is installed correctly, go to the Google Analytics Debugger Chrome extension, refresh your Magento store's frontend, and see if the tracking code appears in the debugger.
Set up data migration: If you want to migrate your Universal Analytics data to GA4, you'll need to set up a data stream in GA4. Go to your GA4 property, click on Admin, then Data Streams, and follow the instructions to set up a data stream for your Magento 1x store.
Update the tracking code: After you've set up the data stream, update the GA4 tracking code in your Magento store's admin panel to include the data stream ID.
Monitor the data migration: After a few days, check your GA4 reports to see if your data from Universal Analytics has been successfully migrated. If not, there may be a problem with the data stream.

you have 2 ways here
1. if you added UA manually to your M1 code you could just remove it and paste GA4 (https://barwenock.com/blog/how-to-migrate-from-universal-analytics-to-ga4/ )
2. if you use GTM - just replace UA with GA4 and release a new tag
3. Maybe you forgot to clean the cache
4. Check Live Report on GA

You can use this extension GTM Pro, which provides an easy way to add Google Analytics 4 to your Magento 1 website.
Here are some of the steps to integrate Google Analytics 4 with Magento 1x:
Begin by creating a new property in your Google Analytics account. This property should be set up using Google Analytics 4.
Obtain the tracking ID from the newly created property in your Google Analytics account.
Access the Magento 1x admin panel and log in using your credentials.
Navigate to the "System" menu and select "Configuration."
In the Configuration section, find and click on "Sales" and then "Google API."
Look for the field labeled "Google Analytics Account Number" and paste the tracking ID you obtained from Google Analytics 4 into this field.
Next, from the dropdown labeled "Google Analytics Type," select "Universal Analytics."
Save the changes you made in the configuration.
To ensure the changes take effect, clear the Magento cache.
By following these steps, you will have successfully integrated Google Analytics 4 with your Magento 1x store, allowing you to track and analyze website traffic and customer behavior more effectively.
