Migration tool and Monolog version conflicts

Hello. 

I have older magento 2 site ( 2.4.1 ) and i want to upgrade it to 2.4.8 so I need to use migration tool to do that .. 

I have installed magento 2.4.8 and everything is working , however, using composer to install migration tool , i keep getting monolog version error .. it seems that migration tool is looking for monolog 2.3 and magento 2.4.8 keeps pulling monolog 3.6 

how can i resolve this ? better yet do i really need migration tool for moving from 2.4.1 to 2.4.8 ?

  Problem 1
    - Root composer.json requires magento/data-migration-tool 2.4.8 -> satisfiable by magento/data-migration-tool[2.4.8].
    - magento/data-migration-tool 2.4.8 requires monolog/monolog ^2.3 -> found monolog/monolog[2.3.0, ..., 2.10.0] but these were not loaded, likely because it conflicts with another require.

Hi @tonysargma79f8 ,

You don’t actually need the Magento Data Migration Tool to go from one 2.4.x release to another - that tool is only used to pull data (orders, customers, catalog, etc.) from a Magento 1 instance into Magento 2. Since you’re already on 2.4.1 and just bumping to 2.4.8, all you need to do is use Composer to update the Magento metapackages themselves.
