Improvements to GitHub Management

Improvements to GitHub Management

Magento is improving the way it processes GitHub submissions to more rapidly identify and respond to core code issues discovered by the community. Starting this week, Magento will change how it handles certain types of submissions:

  • Feature Requests/ Improvements: We will move existing Feature Requests and Improvements not already captured in our internal development backlog to a newly created Magento Forum. Going forward, developers and merchants should post these types of requests to the Magento 2 Feature Requests and Improvements All submissions will be regularly reviewed by the Magento Product Team for inclusion in future product releases.

  • Questions: We will close Questions submitted to GitHub and direct developers and merchants to question and answer sites, such as Stack Exchange and the Magento Forums. Questions that indicate a need for better documentation will be re-labeled as Developer Documentation requests.

These changes will allow Magento teams to focus their time on reviewing and addressing core code issues so we can be more responsive to your input. You should expect to see more pull requests accepted and faster processing of issues in the weeks to come.

As a reminder, Community Edition merchants and developers should file issues in the Magento 2 GitHub repository and Enterprise Edition merchants and registered Solution Partners are encouraged to file issues directly with Magento Support in the My Account area or through the Partner Portal to ensure proper issue tracking.
