How soon should I send my team to training and what do you reccomend?

We are starting our Magento implemention later this month using a 3rd party implementation vendor.

I have 3 PHP developers on my team currently that I would like to be trained in Magento.

I am looking for advise on what training other businesses would reccomend for their developers and at what stage of the implementation.

We intend to Co-Develop with the implementation vendor and they feel confident that with the available free online class and working with their developers my team can learn the tool easily.  I would appreciate any alternate opinions.

Send them to training right now. It will take some time to get up to speed. You will also need to integrate into your current SI's integration plan.
