Hello. Just started using Magento open source. I haven't gone live with it yet. Still building the site and getting familiar with everything. I've been running an internet-based company for about 15 years now. When I first started I was using Yahoo. It was an all-in-one solution back then - domain, hosting, site builder. They offered a wizzywig dev environment that was easy to use. The site was very primative, but so was everything else at that time. As websites started getting slicker, we switched to Magento Commerce. Their fee structure was different then. It was just a flat fee based on features. When they switched to more of a thinly veiled commission-based fee structure, we switched to Shopify. OMG, I hate Shopify. That's what we are currently using until I get the new site up. They recently switched to the same commission-based fee structure that every seems to use now.
We're in that awkward middle ground where we have too many sales/visitors to use one of the simple packages, but don't do nearly enough sales to justify using one of the various "enterprise" packages. So, that's why I'm here.
