Correlate Orders with Google ECommerce data in late 2023

Hello!

Our team recently discovered that all Reports referencing Google ECommerce integration started to report zero, nearly zero, or no data. We expect it to be due to the fact that Google ECommerce was based on Universal Analytics, which ended its lifecycle in mid-2023.

Now, when we switched to using Google Analytics 4 Live integration, we didn't see a similar table in Data Warehouse to create a relation between Orders and Ecommerce to correlate sales with source/medium/campaign like described in https://experienceleague.adobe.com/docs/commerce-business-intelligence/mbi/analyze/warehouse-manager...

Is there any other integration or way of building ECommerce dimensions in correlation with our Orders data other than Google ECommerce, which seems deprecated?

Thanks

Hello @devsharepr1ff5

If you have transitioned from Universal Analytics to Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and are looking to correlate E-commerce data with order information, it's important to note that GA4 uses a different data model compared to Universal Analytics. GA4 is event-based and offers more flexibility in tracking and analyzing user interactions.

To correlate E-commerce dimensions with order data in GA4, you can follow these steps:

  1. Set Up Enhanced E-commerce in GA4:

    • GA4 has its own enhanced e-commerce tracking system. Ensure that you have set up enhanced e-commerce tracking in your GA4 property.
    • Follow the documentation provided by Google for implementing enhanced e-commerce in GA4: Enhanced E-commerce Implementation Guide for GA4.
  2. Send Enhanced E-commerce Events:

    • Make sure that your website or application is sending the necessary enhanced e-commerce events to GA4. This includes events like purchase, add_to_cart, begin_checkout, etc.
    • Verify that the e-commerce data is being captured correctly in your GA4 reports.
  3. Custom Dimensions and Metrics:

    • GA4 allows you to create custom dimensions and metrics. You can use custom dimensions to track additional information related to your orders, such as source/medium/campaign.
    • Define custom dimensions in your GA4 property, and then make sure to send the appropriate data with your enhanced e-commerce events.
  4. Data Analysis in GA4:

    • Once you have set up enhanced e-commerce tracking and custom dimensions, you can analyze your data in the GA4 interface.
    • Use the GA4 reports to explore the correlation between orders and e-commerce data. The reports provide a more flexible and event-driven approach compared to the traditional e-commerce tracking in Universal Analytics.

Re: Correlate Orders with Google ECommerce data in late 2023

Hi devsharepr1ff5,

Thanks for reaching out to us.

Due to the new version of Google Analytics 4, the Google eCommerce profiles for the same are not loading in Adobe Commerce Intelligence (aka MBI). We are working on the feature development to extend our compatibility with GA4 and will keep you updated as we progress.

As an alternative, a data pipeline could be explored in Commerce Intelligence using Import API feature. Please refer to our documentation below for more information:

https://developer.adobe.com/commerce/services/reporting/import-api/

We may come up with a streamlined set of steps specific to Google eCommerce in a few weeks.

As a second alternative, please make use of our CSV Upload feature (link shared below):

Hi glo11486ad4f3e,

Thank you for your response and for posting some alternative solutions.

That's very good news you're working on it. Do you have an ETA for this integration to be completed?
