How to convert a drop-down to checkbox for front-end only

I have a drop-down attribute for configurable product and i need to convert that into a multi-select or checkbox  in-order to let users select multiple option at a time while drop-down only allow us to select one at a time. How to do that. Or if my logic is wrong , how to make a multi-select  in an configurable product

Idk if that's really what you want but when you create the product don't use the Configurations tab, try the Custumazible Options, it has a multiselect option in there
