Is it possible to add a whole category to your upsells/related products?

Hello,

As we are a company selling christmas articles, for us it could be very handy to add a whole product category to the upsell/related products. 

For example: We sell a christmas tree, and to this christmastree we would like to show a clickthrough to the category christmasballs. 

Is this possible in upselling or related products?

This is not possible out-of-the-box with magento.

Upsell / Cross-sell / related products is on SKU level.

Another thought on this, why would you (from a customer point of view) present a whole category on the upsell tab/area ?

There has been many human tests on the amount of information that the human brain is capable of consuming, and the the last thing I read was a maximum of 3-5 products when using upsell. 

Yes, I know you can add navigation arrows in this area, but I personally don't think that the customer should browse this area vs. the normal catalogue.

Is it possible to add one ore more products as upsell to more products in one go?

So that you add 1 product as upsell to 10 other products in one go?

Not out of the box in Magento.

Maybe with an extension like this, you could archive it ?
