Magento CE v2.x as base for Art Gallery Site

I am looking at using Magento CE v2 as the basis for re-platforming an art gallery website. I'm trying to get a handle on the customisation/enhancement route - I don't doubt that Magento can/could do what I want, more need to work out quite what is involved implementing some of the custom capabilities.

Can anyone point me at good tutorials - v2 specific if possible - that describe how to add new modules, routing and themes etc?
