Need to exclude shipping from discounts

I need to exclude shipping prices to be included in discounts. Currently, if I have a discount, say 20% off, it also applies the discount to the shipping costs. I need a solution or extension that will resolve this. The shipping costs are currently listed under product information > custom options. Thanks!

I guess that you're talking about shopping cart rules.

When you create those kind of rules you can choose if the discount will apply to the shipping amount.

Can you share an example of discount rule?
