Product that are no longer new still in new products list

Have a site where products that were previous set with new dates that have now expired still appear in new products listings. How can I remove these?

Are those products on your home page?

Which version of Magento are you using?

Yes, products on home page under Whats New. Magento version is 1.9.0.1.
I've remove the dates on the product general settings, tried disabling,
re-enabling. Flushing cache etc. But these 'old' products still appear.
What am I missing? Or is it a but in this version?

You aren't missing anything. It seems you're doing the things in the right way.

But also that feature has been working fine.

Maybe you should reindex? The only problem could be cache but you said you've flushed.

I can't imagine (right now) another idea.

How are you showing the list? I mean, are you using a block or the out-of-the-box widget?

Yes, have re-indexed and the products are still there.

It is an out of the box feature. On the website it displays in a What’s new widget off the main Nav and there’s also a block lower on the page with a sub nav.

It’s not a serious issue... just a little frustrating that these products are there when they shouldn’t be.
